Salado: Texas History Days Salado

June 8, 2018 (All day) to June 10, 2018 (All day)

The Village of Salado, TX will host an event June, 8th, 9th, & 10th held throughout the town. The event will include tours of Texas Historical sites, a speech by Sam Houston, demonstrations and exhibits. Historically based vendors have been invited to show there handmade and pioneer products. The state of Texas is now focusing on history based vacations and Salado is one of the first towns to embrace the concept.
Many of Salado's non-profit organizations are planning unique exhibits showcasing Salado's historical past. Settled in 1860, Salado is famous for it's Stagecoach Inn, it's location on a branch of the Chisholm Trail, and for being the site of the first co-educational college in Texas. Many activities taking place this weekend will be perfect entertainment for the young & mature. There will be a "Homemade Ice Cream - Freeze Off", a western based rendition of Shakespeare’s play "A Mid Summers Night Dream", classes on beginning and advanced genealogy, tours of Salado's 19 National Registered Historic sites and many other pioneer & settler demonstrations & exhibits.
Most events will be offered free with a few that require an entry fee. For dining, lodging, & shopping please go to salado.com.
