New Year, New Places!

It's the new year, and a time for reflection and resolutions.   The Texas Brazos Trail would like to offer the following New Year's resolutions for visitors:

 Main Street - Calvert, TX

Resolve to get out and visit one new place in Central Texas this year - whether it is a town you've never been to, a new attraction or even a new restaurant, get out and experience what this region has to offer.

Perhaps you might want to visit Calvert and do some antique shopping and then take a driving tour of the beautiful Victorian architecture of the homes in the area.

Travel to Smithville and enjoy this "movie set perfect" town which has been the location for several major movies - including "Hope Floats" and upcoming movie staring Brad Pitt.

Mayborn Museum - WacoResolve to re-visit a place you've already been to.   Many attractions change their exibits on a regular basis and communities hold various festivals and events throughout the year.

Visitors to the Mayborn Museum Complex in Waco, the Bell County Museum in Belton, or the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station are sure to find something new to see.   Check the Texas Brazos Trail's Calendar section for more information on exhibits and events in the area.

 Old Fort Parker

Resolve to learn more about the history and culture of Central Texas.

Central Texas is rich with the history of early European settlers who came to this area.  In Clifton visitors can see the old Norwegian churches and cemeteries and visit a museum that tells the story of how Clifton became the Norwegian Capital of Texas.

Nestled between Groesbeck and Mexia, Old Fort Parker is the starting point of one of the most compelling and famous Native American stories in Texas - that of Quanah Parker and his mother Cynthia Ann Parker.

For more information on what to see and do while you’re in the area visit the City & Counties and Attractions areas of this website.
