Day by Day: D-Day to D-Day +84

On Saturday, June 8, The Museum of the American G.I. debuted the opening of their newest exhibit — Day by Day: D-Day to D-Day +84.
Now on display at the museum is a collection of Colonel James Earl Rudder’s possessions provided by his son, Bob Rudder. Colonel Rudder holds close ties to the Brazos Valley as former President of Texas A&M University. Also at the exhibit, there is a display of Lannes Hope’s belongings provided by his son. Hope was a World War II veteran who fought in Normandy immediately following D-Day. He later became a member of the faculty at Texas A&M University.
The D-Day to D-Day +84 exhibit will be open for the remainder of the summer. It includes maps following the Allies after D-Day, a D-Day by minute timeline, and information regarding the detailed planning of the Normandy invasion. The exhibit also displays a desk from a World War II soldier with a vintage typewriter and other personal possessions.
Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and current or retired military, and $4 for children 5-17 years of age. During the summer, the museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm Wednesday through Saturday and 12 pm to 5 pm on Sunday.
